Montagne Russe

About

Originating in a garage, getting busted by the Federal Government in 2013, and legally coming to be in 2015, Montagne Russe focuses on producing outstanding single-vineyard Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Syrah from cool-climate regions such as the Petaluma Gap and the greater Sonoma Coast AVA.

The winery takes its name from the French term for “roller coaster”, given its roller coaster ride of becoming an official winery. Owner and winemaker, Kevin Bersofsky, had also designed roller coasters as a mechanical engineering undergraduate, before he began his self-taught path in winemaking.

As of January 2024, the tasting room has introduced an inviting twist with its Vino & Vinyls Record Shop, offering over 2,000 vinyl records that complement the wine tasting experience, ranging from classic to contemporary artists.

Not only did I love tasting some incredible Pinot Noirs, but the look and feel of the place is super cool. I really enjoy the fact that it’s dog friendly and can’t wait to visit with my boy soon. The outdoor space is great with loads of umbrellas, and shaded gondolas, but we ended up crashing on cool couches, listening to retro albums, and enjoying learning more about the different wines that they have.
